Method
Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola, Jason Saldaña and Joel Heyman start Rooster Teeth in Austin on April 1, 2003 with Red vs. Blue, a Halo machinima paid for by DVD sales and a subscription later called FIRST. It grows into Achievement Hunter, RWBY, RTX from 2011 and Funhaus, hired from Machinima in 2015. Fullscreen buys it in November 2014 for an undisclosed sum, passing it to Otter Media, AT&T and Warner Bros. Discovery. WBD announces the closure on March 6, 2024, with about 150 employees losing jobs and operations ending May 15; The Roost podcast network goes to Night and RWBY to Viz Media in July 2024. Burns' Box Canyon Productions buys the brand and remaining assets on February 5, 2025 and relaunches the site on August 7, 2025 with new shows. The rung that breaks is a conglomerate parent measuring a subscription studio against streaming scale.
