Aaron DeBevoise, who ran Machinima with his uncle and co founded StyleHaul, starts Spotter in Culver City in 2019 to pay creators cash up front for the future ad revenue of their existing YouTube videos, giving them capital to hire editors and producers. It raises 762 million dollars in total, including a 200 million dollar Series D led by SoftBank in February 2022 at a 1.7 billion dollar valuation, and reports partners including MrBeast, Dude Perfect, The Try Guys, Kinigra Deon and Jordan Matter. By 2026 it positions itself as a broker of creator TV to advertisers, holding a second annual Showcase in New York in March 2026 and reporting that its top 40 creators release 250 long form episodes a month.
