Ben Lerer forms Group Nine in New York in October 2016 by merging Thrillist, NowThis, The Dodo and Discovery's Seeker, with Discovery investing 100 million dollars for the largest stake, and buys PopSugar in 2019. It sells platform native video to advertisers with more than 415 staff. Vox Media agrees to buy it on December 13, 2021 in an all stock deal that closes February 22, 2022, folding the brands into Vox.
