Vox Media announces an all stock purchase of Group Nine Media on December 13, 2021 and closes it on February 22, 2022, absorbing NowThis, Thrillist, The Dodo, Seeker and PopSugar. Group Nine had raised 100 million dollars from Discovery in 2016 and further rounds of 40 million dollars in 2017 and 50 million dollars in 2019. The merger consolidates two of the social video publishers built on Facebook distribution after that traffic fell away.
