Kill Tony premieres on June 3, 2013 at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles with Tony Hinchcliffe as host and Brian Redban as producer, and relocates to Austin in 2021 with episode 487, taping 18 episodes at Antone's, which drops the show after Hinchcliffe's remarks about an Asian comedian, then 92 at Vulcan Gas Company until its 2023 Monday residency at Joe Rogan's Comedy Mothership. On March 1, 2024 Studio71 takes over distribution, ad sales and marketing at more than 2 million downloads an episode. It sells out the Kia Forum, Madison Square Garden twice and the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park in 2024, and on March 10, 2025 Netflix orders three specials ahead of a tour through the O2, Bridgestone Arena and Moody Center on December 31, 2025. The bucket pull draws comics to move to Austin, several sleeping in cars while they wait for a minute on stage.
