Moody Center opens on April 21, 2022 on the University of Texas campus as a $375 million, 15,000 seat arena developed by Oak View Group with Live Nation and C3 Presents, the University of Texas and Matthew McConaughey, funded in part by a $130 million Moody Foundation grant, replacing the 42 year old Erwin Center. It gives Austin's podcast and live format economy an arena rung: Kill Tony, taped weekly at the Comedy Mothership, books the arena for a New Year's Eve 2025 show with presales on August 21, 2025.
