Method
Item Beauty launches in August 2020 as a clean makeup line co created by Addison Rae with Madeby Collective, the incubator inside Ipsy's parent BFA Industries. It enters Sephora in summer 2021 with 11 products priced 14 to 20 dollars, exits Sephora in January 2023 and stops trading a few months later when BFA disbands Madeby Collective. The rung that broke was retail sell through: the audience followed Rae but did not repurchase, and an incubator built on subscription box sampling could not carry a standalone shelf brand.
