Bang Energy is the energy drink of Vital Pharmaceuticals, the Weston, Florida company Jack Owoc founds in 1993, with a bottling and warehouse operation in Pembroke Pines. Bang is built almost entirely on paid creators: it runs hundreds of ambassadors on TikTok and Instagram, pays the rent of the Hype House in 2020 in exchange for tagged content, opens its own Bangster TikTok house in Miami, and reaches 780 million dollars of sales in 2020 and close to 1.3 billion in the year to October 2021 while the BangEnergy hashtag passes 17 billion views. The creator model is also the rung that breaks. Sony and Universal sue over unlicensed music in the creator videos, and in July 2022 the Southern District of Florida finds 140 videos on Bang's own TikTok account infringing. A 293 million dollar false advertising judgment for Monster follows and Vital files Chapter 11 in October 2022. Monster buys the brand and the Phoenix plant for about 362 million dollars on July 31, 2023, a WARN notice covers 463 Weston employees in September 2023, and Bang leaves South Florida as a corporate presence. Owoc, with no non compete, launches the Florida based Ai Energy line in October 2024 while a bankruptcy estate suit over fund transfers proceeds against him.
