Method

Triller launches in July 2015 as a music video editing app, becomes a social network after a 2016 sale to Carnegie Technologies, and takes a majority investment from Ryan Kavanaugh's Proxima Media in 2019 with headquarters in Los Angeles. It surges to number one in the App Store in 2020 during the first TikTok ban threat and signs Charli D'Amelio and other TikTok stars, but former employees say true monthly users were under 2.5 million against a claimed 100 million. Universal pulls its catalog in February 2021 over unpaid royalties, a SPAC with SeaChange fails in 2022, and Triller merges with Hong Kong fintech AGBA in October 2024. Nasdaq delists Triller Group on 30 December 2025 for missed filings, and its online services stop working by August 2026. The rung that breaks is honest audience data followed by unpaid partners.
