Unilever announces in June 2025 that it will buy Dr. Squatch, the Los Angeles natural soap brand founded in San Diego in 2013 and owned by Summit Partners, for a reported 1.5 billion dollars, and completes the purchase on November 16, 2025. Dr. Squatch is built on YouTube and podcast advertising and creator sponsorships rather than shelf space, and the price is the largest paid for a brand grown that way. Unilever's earlier purchase of Dollar Shave Club in 2016 for 1 billion dollars is the precedent.
