Method

Tana Mongeau and Michael Weist of Good Times Entertainment stage TanaCon at the Anaheim Marriott Suites on June 22, 2018 as a free rival to VidCon, with about 5,000 tickets issued for a venue rated for roughly 3,000 people. Reports put the crowd outside at up to 15,000, attendees wait for hours in the sun, the fire marshal closes the event on the first afternoon and the second day is canceled. Weist values the loss at about 700,000 dollars and files Chapter 7 bankruptcy for Good Times on October 17, 2018, telling fans to seek refunds from the ticket vendor and from Mongeau. Shane Dawson's three part documentary makes it a case study and VidCon features Mongeau in July 2019.

Open questions: Crowd size is reported as 4,000 to 5,000 in some accounts and as roughly 15,000 waiting outside in Tubefilter and Newsweek; no primary count exists.
People: Tana Mongeau, Michael Weist
