Walker Williams and Evan Stites Clayton start Teespring in Providence in August 2011 after selling 400 shirts to save a bar, raise 20 million dollars from Andreessen Horowitz in January 2014 and 35 million dollars from Khosla in November 2014, and move to San Francisco. Teespring lays off its Providence staff in 2015 and 2016, is rescued by YouTube's merch shelf integration in 2018, and Chris Lamontagne becomes CEO in 2019. It rebrands to Spring on 1 February 2021. Amaze Software buys Spring on 8 November 2022 with 5.5 million creator stores. Suppliers including alphabroder sue for unpaid bills in 2023 and creators report delayed payouts, the rung that breaks being working capital. Amaze Holdings operates the Teespring marketplace in 2025 to 2026 as a public company.
