Method

Guy Beahm, known as Dr Disrespect, and Robert Bowling co found Midnight Society in December 2021 to build the free to play extraction shooter Deadrop, funded in part by Founders Access Passes sold to fans. The studio removes Beahm on June 24, 2024 over 2017 messages to a minor and strips his likeness from the game. It makes a significant workforce reduction in September 2024 citing unexpected challenges, still promising a 2025 launch, then announces on January 30, 2025 that it is closing after three years and more than 55 developers, that Deadrop will not launch and that it is helping staff find other studios. Refunds for pass holders are unconfirmed at closure. The rung that broke is the founder's exit, which cut off the audience the studio was built to sell to.
