Method

Alex Zaccaria, Anthony Zaccaria and Nick Humphreys build Linktree in Melbourne in 2016 to solve Instagram's single bio link, and it grows to 8 million users by 2020 and 50 million by May 2024. Airtree and Insight lead a 10.7 million dollar Series A in 2020, Index and Coatue a 45 million dollar Series B in 2021 and a 110 million dollar round in 2022 at a 1.3 billion dollar valuation. Linktree cuts 17 percent of staff in 2022 and 27 percent in June 2023 while shifting hiring to the US. In 2024 it launches a social commerce program paying creators 12 to 15 percent commissions from more than 2,000 brands and estimates users drive 6 billion dollars a year in sales. It counts about 70 million members in 2026.
