Method
Dart Music is founded in Nashville by Chris McMurtry, developed through the Project Music accelerator, and launches in September 2015 as a distribution platform that carries composer, orchestra and movement metadata for independent classical musicians to streaming services, raising more than 1.5 million dollars in seed money by late 2015 and appearing at Google Demo Day in 2016. After a 2016 net loss of 584,173 dollars and failed talks with note holders, it files Chapter 11 on February 28, 2017 with 2.57 million dollars of debt against under 100,000 dollars of assets, owing 600,000 dollars each to two note holders and 33,233 dollars of royalties to artists. Core Rights LLC buys the technology, patents, data and customer relationships in June 2017. The rung that breaks is working capital in a niche distribution business.
