Ricky Van Veen and Josh Abramson start CollegeHumor in 1999, IAC buys it in 2006 for 26 million dollars and it becomes a Los Angeles sketch studio funded by display and video advertising. On January 8, 2020 IAC sells it to chief creative officer Sam Reich for no cash plus a retained minority, laying off more than 100 people and leaving seven staff days before the pandemic. The brand is retired in September 2023 in favor of Dropout.
