Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman raise 1.75 billion dollars for Quibi in Los Angeles and launch on 6 April 2020 with ten minute Hollywood produced episodes. The service tracks toward 2 million subscribers against a 7.4 million forecast and has about 500,000 at the end. Quibi announces its closure on 21 October 2020 and shuts on 1 December 2020, and Roku buys all 75 programs in January 2021 for less than 100 million dollars. The rung that breaks is audience: paying studios instead of creators produces content nobody shares. Quibi is the counter example on this map to platforms that pay creators first.
