Beatriz Acevedo, Doug Greiff and Roy Burstin found mitú in Los Angeles in 2012 as a Latino YouTube network, later a Facebook video publisher, raising about 52 million dollars from Upfront Ventures, Verizon Ventures, WPP and others and claiming 91 million monthly viewers. In 2019 creators such as Superholly document unpaid network earnings and the company lays off staff; Latido Networks buys it in February 2020 for undisclosed terms and keeps the brand running. The rung that breaks is Facebook's pivot away from publisher video.
