Brandon Brown founds Grin in Sacramento in 2017 with his brothers as subscription software that lets direct to consumer brands such as Mejuri, Allbirds and Warby Parker recruit creators, ship product, track affiliate sales and pay out. It raises 145 million dollars across seven rounds, closing a 110 million dollar Series B led by Lone Pine Capital on October 13, 2021 at a 910 million dollar valuation, and grows to 480 staff. The rung that bends is headcount: Grin lays off 60 people in December 2022, more in March 2023 and April 2024, the Brown brothers exit in 2024 with Ryan Debenham becoming chief executive, and the founders launch the AI search startup Search Party in October 2025. Grin adds social listening and an affiliate hub in March 2025 and opens self serve access in January 2026.
