Method

FTX is the crypto exchange that treats South Florida as its US base. FTX US buys the naming rights to the Miami Heat arena from Miami-Dade County in March 2021 in a 19 year deal reported at 135 million dollars, signs the ten year, 210 million dollar TSM naming deal in June 2021, and on September 27, 2022 moves its US headquarters from Chicago to Miami four months after opening the Chicago office. FTX files for bankruptcy in November 2022; TSM suspends the partnership on November 16, 2022, the county removes the FTX name, and a bankruptcy judge terminates the arena agreement in January 2023. Kaseya, the Miami software company, takes the naming rights from July 1, 2023 for 17 years. The Miami footprint is a sponsorship and a lease, not a workforce, which is why almost nothing remains in the corridor after the collapse.
