Method
NBCUniversal invests 200 million dollars in BuzzFeed in August 2015 and another 200 million dollars in November 2016, taking a stake in the company that housed Tasty and later Complex Networks. In 2016 Comcast buys DreamWorks Animation, which brings a controlling stake in AwesomenessTV that is sold to Viacom two years later. BuzzFeed goes public by SPAC in December 2021 and trades far below the price NBCUniversal paid. Comcast spins its cable networks into Versant Media Group, a separation completed in January 2026, while NBCUniversal keeps the studio, Peacock and the broadcast network.
