Asda, formed in the 1960s and headquartered in Leeds, is Prime Hydration's first UK retailer: the brand thanks Asda on June 18, 2022 and shelves empty through the summer, with Yorkshire stores out of stock by August. Aldi, Sainsbury's, Spar and Morrisons follow, so Asda is first rather than exclusive. Prime Hydration UK Ltd's accounts for 2024 show turnover falling from 112.2 million pounds to 32.8 million pounds, a 71 percent drop, and net profit to about 312,000 pounds, and the directors open a strategic review in June 2025. Asda is where the schoolyard frenzy started and where the collapse is measured.
Open questions: The prior note's 48 percent 2024 fall and 71 percent by mid 2025 do not match the Companies House accounts reported by Marketing Week and Grocery Gazette, which put the 71 percent fall in calendar 2024; the 1949 founding date is the Associated Dairies origin rather than Asda's stated 1960s formation.
